sitting today
working
on poetry
and blog posts
in silence
and
thoroughly
enjoying the peace
the quiet
is often
broken up
by the sound of
kitty upstairs
chasing her favourite
toy mouse
sometimes she is loud
but I still enjoy
the peace and quiet
no music
muted computer
no tv
nothing to spoil
my quiet afternoon
at all
alas
in just a few minutes
the kid returns from school
and with him
a cacophony
of laughter
yelling
video games
crunching and munching
and whatever other noises
he will think to make
because he does NOT
enjoy the silence!
