Yes, That's ME

{Post 7/365: Original Post: KD Bissonette on Triond}

Yes, that’s me
Look and you’ll see
My hair is long and brown
My eyes are green
My arms give good warm hugs
My hands make beautiful jewelry
My heart is bigger than you can imagine
I’m a queen
I never leave
My friends are my life
I live to love you
I hope for better
I dream of seeing the world
It’s all clear as can be.
That’s positively, absolutely me

I Couldn't Live Without This Song

{Post 6/365: Original Post: Reading, Writing and Rocking MY World}

I don't know why but for a long long time this has been one of my fave songs ever.
I couldn't live without it because it always makes me smile. :)
Joy to you and me! :)

If Emotion Were a...

{Post 5/365: Original Post: KD Bissonette @ Triond}
If sorrow was a color,
It would be blue
As deep blue as an ocean.

If sorrow was a taste
It would be just like a sweet and salty memory
If sorrow was a feeling
It would be as hollow as an empty vase.
If sorrow was a smell
It would be first spring rain.
If sorrow was a sound,
It would be silent as a tear.

Me & My Shadow

{Post 4/365: Original Post: KD Bissonette on Triond}

My shadow wears
a pink fluffy sweater
blue socks
purple jeans
and she knows
the order of things
her hair is like
spun silk
My shadow is a pinball
spinning, whirling, rolling,
floating on air
barely slowing to acknowledge me

Poets I Admire

{Post 3/365: Original Post: Reading, Writing and Rocking MY World}

I am thinking about the poets I have read through the years and enjoyed.
I am a poet and I have always been inspired by others.
I think I never would have found a way through the sad parts of my life if I hadn't had words to use to express my hurt and  my desire.
I have found that I like love poems.  I have also found that I enjoy an epic poem with a long story.  I enjoy the flow.
I even enjoy a funny poem now and then!
While I enjoy many and a variety there are only a few whose words have touched me deeply and stayed with me a long time.
I admire them.
I appreciate their voices.
They have inspired me at many different times over the years but I always return to them because they lift my spirits and express my thoughts, hope , heart and more.
Sometimes it is only that they have entertained me but usually it is because something they have said has touched me deep inside my own soul.
Maybe woken me up to something I hadn't known before or understood.
I have decided that I'm going to share my favourite poets and the poems that I carry with me, that have touched me and stayed in my heart.
Something beautiful is only more beautiful when it is shared.
So I will share my faves with you.
I will share the poems by Robert Frost, Kahlil Gibran, Elizabeth Barret Browning, William Allen Dromgoole, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and others.
If their voices helped make my life easier then maybe they'll do the same for you.

So today I leave you with the ONE poem that I have never forgotten and always believed states perfectly our PURPOSE in life!

The Bridge Builder, William Allen Dromgoole
An old man, going a lone highway,
Came at the evening, cold and gray,
To a chasm, vast and deep and wide,
Through which was flowing a sullen tide.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim;
The sullen stream had no fears for him;
But he turned when safe on the other side
And built a bridge to span the tide.

"Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near,
"You are wasting strength with building here;
Your journey will end with the ending day;
You never again must pass this way;
You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide—
Why build you the bridge at the eventide?"

The builder lifted his old gray head:
"Good friend, in the path I have come," he said,
"There followeth after me today
A youth whose feet must pass this way.
This chasm that has been naught to me
To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be.
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
Good friend, I am building the bridge for him."

SURFACING or SINKING

{Post 2/365: Original Post: Dreams From the Deep BLUE }
I have dreams, wishes, hopes , goals, desires, and needs just like anyone else.
I struggle daily to move forward.
Sometimes I will have a surge of energy or inspiration from a story or book I have read, or a particular quote that sparked my interest, or  maybe from a conversation with a friend.
I will feel inspired and creative and think of many of the things that I desire to do or be.
Then I am surfacing from the deep; from the walls and chains of self-pity, fear, self-loathing or indecision that keeps me mired in the deep unable to shine with the light of creativity and love that glows as a tiny spark inside me.
For a moment I believe that I can do or be anything I want to.
Sometimes the moment is longer than at other times and in this period I begin all sorts of different projects, hoping to improve whatever I feel is lacking in any given area at the time.  I might start learning to drum, or begin writing a book.  I might begin a DIY project in some room of my house. I might  have all sorts of great ideas to begin that will make me feel capable and accomplished if I do actually complete them…
…and then, somewhere along the way I will begin to lose steam and start hearing the voices in my head that say you took on too much, who are you to think you can do this and be any good at it, does anyone really want to hear what you have to say?, you can’t possibly finish that project it’s such a huge job!
I will get tired and give up and then SINK into complacency and believe that I am incapable, believe that I am not good enough, believe that I am nobody special and I really have nothing important or interesting to say.  I’m really lucky anyone ever listens to me at all!
I am thinking long and hard now about the long path between surfacing and sinking and I wish to shorten it.  In fact, I’d like to abolish it altogether, surface completely and then ride the wave all the way to wherever it goes…
I am capable, I am GOOD ENOUGH, I am SPECIAL, and I have LOTS of relevant and important things to say!
I know that I am still going to struggle with the sinking but, it is long overdue time to accept that I am a beautiful, vibrant, intelligent, capable human being and I CAN do whatever I want to do!
So I have decided to consciously choose SURFACING as often as I can and NOT allow the voices that drag me backwards to ever speak again! (Obviously, they’re gonna try hard to drag me down and keep me stagnant but, I refuse to allow them power in my life anymore!)
I CAN write! I can drum! I can eat properly, exercise and keep track of my health. I can make beautiful jewelry. I can TRUST and BELIEVE in MYSELF! I can SHINE with my own LIGHT and I will!
I WILL BELIEVE IN ME!!!!!!

New Year's Resolutions...

{POST 1/365: Original post: Magsmomma/FEELME }
I've never been very good at keeping any New Year's Resolutions I have made in the past.  Oh maybe for awhile but, then I just revert back to old habits.  Change is hard work!
So perhaps I will not try to go so hard against the grain and instead continue to grow into myself and play to my own strengths.  I think that I CAN do!
So...yes I do resolve to make some changes though many of them are not NEW.  They are all the changes I have already been working on over the last year or two.
#1. I WILL plan meals better and continue to eat as healthy as budget allows.
#2. I will learn to manage my sugars and fluid intake and keep all other levels I have to in order.
#3. I WILL get more excercise whether that be walking, doing some extra housework every day (but not too much to exhaust myself), riding the stationary bike -maybe in winter when it's cold outside ;), OR drumming on my drums! :D
#4. I WILL read more and play on the computer LESS.
#5. I WILL write, write, write.  I will write what I know, what I believe, what I understand to be truth, what I learn, what I feel, and hopefully I will grow.
#6. I will continue daily what this post has begun and that is POST #1 of 365 posts in my 365 day challenge. (Get inspired by Noah Scalin and his book: 365: A Daily Creativity Journal like I did!)
#7. AND I will remember not to be too hard on myself if my reality doesn't measure up to my intentions.  I am only human after all!
#8. I WILL NOT give up on the 365 day challenge though even if I do falter on some of the other resolutions! lol (this one is MOST important to me!)
#9. I will work hard.
#10. I WILL BELIEVE IN ME!!!

It is only the beginning but I hope this will be an interesting, entertaining and productive journey and I hope some of you will follow along with me. :D
