how to express

the feeling of 

home

the feeling of

coming home

after some time away

a vacation is lovely

and can be relaxing

stress free time

enjoyable when shared

good friends

and family

good times

and then

the excitement

a small tingle inside

knowing

home is close

and once you have returned

the sweet relief

of HOME

of sleeping in your own bed

of  playing with your own toys

of  getting back to your own

known routine

HOME

Storm

the weather

was wild and crazy

this camping trip

and the worst of it

wasn't even

the lightning

or thunder

or the rain

but it was

the wind!

whipping the tent flaps

blowing the tents

almost over

bending the tent poles

lifting the empty ones

right off of the ground

flipping our shelter

off of the ground and over

blowing so hard

it flipped chairs over

again and again

I'm not afraid of 

thunder or lightning

in fact

I LOVE it!

it is a wild

untamed

force of nature

that demands to be

respected

but the wind

made me nervous

what if it breaks the tent?

we will be exposed

in the open

vulnerable

cold

in the dark

then the whole business

is something to FEAR

but the thunderstorm

moved on and the sky cleared up

leaving only the wind

to contend with

and it brought the chill air

but sometime through the night

it settled down to a dull roar

and we slept 

and we had a beautiful day

for packing up to

return home again

Bacon and Eggs

OH

MY

GOD

I forgot

the bacon and eggs

how can you forget

the BEST part

of camping breakfast?

and have to eat

cheese and cracker sandwiches!

thank goodness 

for family

sharing theirs with us!

and then again

the best part

is cooking on a fire

which we didn't have either

so I think

that we have learned

we actually COULD

live without

bacon and eggs

but

NOT for long!!

they really are 

delicious!

Camping

to go camping

a long list

of items

NOT to forget

and YET

somehow

I still manage 

to forget things

and we had to borrow

from my brother

his wife

and our friends

but still

we managed

to enjoy our trip

and even better

NO sunburn!

the company

of  others

especially of like mind

and spirit

and emotionally

Shine

there is a light

inside you

inside me

sometimes

another person

helps us to see

and to shine

with our own light

sometimes they are

the spark we need

to be set on fire

to shine like the sun

to burn with a flame

to feed the fire

of our dreams 

of our heart

of our soul

and we are

forever changed

forever opened up

to the light

inside us

we blossom like a flower

we sparkle

we shine like the sun

and we know

that we are ALL

beautiful

JOY

The Feeling

I love the feeling

of being

barefoot in the grass

it is not just 

the tickling  sensation

of grass on your toes

or the soft,

padding squish

as you walk

but the 

connection

of feet to the earth

and the impression

of energy

being renewed

I always feel better

if I have been able to stand

barefoot in the grass

and recharge my spirit
