Inspiration Tree

{Post: 235/365}
in my mind's eye
I see
a tree
painted on the wall
of my office
with a door
the open door
to my dreams
to my inspiration
to my creativity
to the magic
and power
I hold inside myself
to set it free
I must paint the tree
and the door
to my soul

Inspiration

{Post: 127/365}
Inspired by this painting:
Healing With Art

my heart
creates roots
deep in the fibre of me
like the root system
of a tree
and as I grow
stronger
older
wiser
my heart opens
wider
and I am willing
to reach towards
the sky
or new people
with ever more
buds and blooms
of heart flowers and
connections
and joy

Trees

{Post: 19/365}
an ancient sentinel
and witness
of the passage
of time
and
of life
if you could ask them
a question
what would you ask?
what knowledge
of life
and of the earth
they must have
what deep and vibrant
understanding
of the vibes
and energy
of all living things
what knowledge
of beauty and horror
they must hold
in the fibre of their
ancient being
and then
to relinquish life
and return to the earth
I wish that they could speak
or that I could understand what they
already try to say
trees

The Story of Two Lilac Trees

{Post: 14/365}
the first tree
was purchased
from a mail order catalogue
it was special
and cost twenty dollars
it was planted and grew for a year in my yard
then
transplanted to my mom's yard
when I moved home
it was years away from blooming
but there was hope...
and then...
a younger brother
and a lawn mower mishap
my lilac tree was mulched!

the second tree
was purchased
from the same catalogue
another chance
and hope renewed
it was planted in the front yard
and surrounded with it's own little white fence
but alas...
another younger brother (hubby's this time)
and a truck parked on the very spot
above the snow
and after the spring thaw...
poor lilac baby was dead!
AGAIN!

My lesson?
DON'T purchase fancy lilac trees
and plant them anywhere
that little brother's travel!!
(just kidding guys)

:) TRUE STORIES.

Patience

{Post 74/365: Original Post: FEEL ME}
If you would know strength and patience, welcome the company of trees.
-   Hal Borland

WOW! I had forgotten.
When I was a child I spent more time in the forest than anywhere else.  I fell in love with trees.
I fell in love with the sound, smell and feel of the woods.
Now, in this digital plugged in world, I have forgotten the whisper of trees. Leaves dancing in the breeze, the creaking and groaning of trunks, roots digging deep into the earth.  More important than the sound is the feel.  I have forgotten that time has little meaning in a forest. It slows and becomes almost imperceptible. When you sit quiet in the forest you can feel your body slow to the pace and energy of the trees. You want to rest.  You want to stay.  You feel at peace. You can lose track of the time. You want to breath in the air.  You want to drink in the essence and recharge in renewal.
Seasons transition and pass on as trees stand. Silent sentinels of time. I've often wondered what it would be like to have a conversation with a tree.  Oh, the many wonders they must have seen through this passage of time.  So many things they must have felt from the earth to the air above. So many beautiful truths they must KNOW. Not the least of which would be PATIENCE. That is something I need to learn more of! Maybe someday soon I will take the time to sit again and listen to the trees. Perhaps on the whisper of the breeze I'll hear words of wisdom, and remember a little better what it is to be patient.
