to dance in the rain
splashing in puddles
giggling
and laughing

mom and auntie
watching from the window
smiling at
the exuberant antics

warm summer air
rain showers

bringing icky worms
to the surface
and the smell of wet grass
and warm mud
in the air
coming in dirtier
than when we went out
and needing
a shower
to clean off the rainwater
and mud splatters
more work for mom
shampoo and soap
smelling clean again
loving
the spontaneous fun
and mess
